Arcadian Forest Party

This was more work that he usually bothered to put in, Pan thought, especially here, at home, but everything was set.

At first glance, it appeared to be a forest clearing, beautiful and wild but nothing different than a hundred other clearings spread throughout the woods of the Arcadian mountains. But when you looked again, Pan thought, you saw something quite different. Hidden in the trees were a series of structures suspended in air, hung with ivy and dew, and through the mist-shrouded branches you could see the faint glow of light, and you could smell the scent of fire and food. There was the fire pit, a circle suspended in the arms of a large oak with a crackling golden fire, a roast, and bowls of marshmallows, chocolate and crackers waiting. There was the bar, stocked with a rich variety of wines and alcohols and staffed by two of the satyrs. And then there was the forest floor itself, bare now, but waiting for the dancing. On all sides of the floor, there were cushions on the low branches and benches of fallen logs, each accompanied with wooden buckets full of wine and beer bottles and glassed suspended with vine.

"Well," he said to Zaffre, currently wrapped around his neck, "I think we're ready." Pan flicked a leaf off his forest green turtleneck and looked around with approval before pausing. "We're almost ready," he corrected, and pulled his pan flute up to his lips.

The forest filled with music as he played, music that began as the mystical songs of the flute, but transformed as he let the instrument fall to his side - transformed into thrumming, sensual rhythms and intricate guitars that would encourage the party-goers to...well, Pan thought with a sharp grin, to be bad. Very bad.

"Let the games begin," Pan said.

[Notes: Everyone in [livejournal.com profile] fortuna_invicta is invited, the more the merrier in Pan's opinion. If anyone needs directions to the right section of the forest, let Pan know on the SWS post. Mingle! Get drunk! Stuff your face! Find a secluded tree and do naughty things! Pan approves highly of all these pursuits. Format = narrative third person, if you please!]

Loose tongues were a side-effect of proximity to Eros. One of the many reasons he held the title Eleutherios, or the Liberator, along with Dionysus.

He laughed, his smile warming as he took a sip of his drink, watching her over the rim. "That's very kind of you, darling. I'd be more than willing to model, if only they would ask."

Pan flashed a grin and reached around Aeneas for chocolate. "Maybe you should consider something new," he said, and then shrugged. "Or maybe not. The opportunities are rife tonight, at any rate."

Addie giggled as she took another sip of her screwdriver. Giggling, honestly?

"If I ever make a friend in the greeting card industry, I'll make sure to suggest it."

Pan snorted out loud, turning his skewer over the flame. "I haven't the faintest idea what you mean, Nemi. I restore order to the world on the third Tuesday of every month."

Even though his time of being caught in the middle of whatever the gods were up to was over, he had never really gotten rid of the ability to sense when someone is watching him. Although he does not know who the boy is, Aeneas knows that if he's at this party, then he is quite likely more than he appears.

He finishes up the last bite of roast boar and heads around the fire in the boy's direction.

"I still think like a mortal most of the time. I just never really got out of the habit." He reached out for another strip of meat. "Although perhaps that could change, given the right set of circumstances."

"You're too kind to me," Eros murmured. He tried to make an effort to ratchet down his influence a few notches; it was still strong from his introduction to Freya.

Ganymede watches him approach as if he doesn't care, but he quirks a small smile as the man comes close enough for him to read a facial expression.

"Hello there."

[identity profile] addiesands.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
She cleared her throat and downed the rest of her screwdriver. "So ummm, do you have a house elsewhere like Apollo does? Or do you still like to hang out on Mt. Olympus?"

[identity profile] lovessweetbait.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"My only home is my temple on Olympus, but I don't spend much time there," he answered, leaning against the bar again. "I mostly sleep, when I'm at home," he answered with a laugh. "I'm out in the world most of the time. What do you do? And how did you meet Apollo, if you don't mind my asking?"

[identity profile] goldendiscordia.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, of course not my dear Eros. Why would I ever suggest such a thing?" Eris chuckled, low and dry, as a golden apple appeared in her empty palm.

Her eyes sparked with mischief as she studied her apple, trying to figure out the best way to go about things. "A barter, then? That should be fair enough..."

[identity profile] addiesands.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
She asked the satyr for another drink before turning back to Eros. "The long term goal is to be a professional singer. The current career is bartending. And that's how I met Apollo. He wandered into my bar, we struck up a conversation, I didn't freak out when he told me who he was, and then he invited me to his beach house."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Pan took a bite of chocolate and raised his eyebrows. "The right set?" he said. "Any idea what those might be, Prince Aeneas?"

[identity profile] lovessweetbait.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like you did just exactly the right thing," Eros answered with a grin. "It's nice there, isn't it? So relaxing, and just gorgeous. What kind of a singer are you?" Then his grin went mischievous. "Do we get a demonstration tonight?"

[identity profile] trojan-hero.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Good evening," Aeneas says, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "It's quite the party."

[identity profile] avenginggoddess.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"You even have it scheduled? I'm impressed." She took a bite of chocolate, and smirked. "I never thought you the type for schedules."

[identity profile] addiesands.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Addie nodded. "Yeah, it is. So peaceful and beautiful. It's really a shame that I've only gotten to spend a couple days there." At his questions she blushed a little. "I'm a soft kind of pop. Like a grown-up, non-country, Taylor Swift. As for a demonstration, ah, well...if you want..."

Addie never had a problem with stage fright, but when asked to perform in front of deities...that was a different story all together.

[identity profile] trojan-hero.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll know them when I see them." It was the best reply he could give. He wasn't sure yet if he even wanted to partake in any consequence-less actions. He still thought and acted too much like a mortal for that.

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, it's an annoying responsibility," Pan said as he blew his flaming marshmallow out. "If I don't schedule it, I won't do it, and then I'd just be bored when all my toys were broken."

[identity profile] lovessweetbait.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Eros raised his brows, but his grin matched hers. "And in exchange for your particular brand of mischief, what will you ask of me, Lady?"

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Even Gods get tired every now and again," Selene murmured, glancing around at the rest of the party. Her lips quirked and she pushed her hair out of her face. "I'm sure you could fit me in your datebook sooner rather than later, couldn't you?"

[identity profile] goldendiscordia.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"My own specialty... In exchange for yours, perhaps," Eris murmured, tossing the apple up and catching it a few times before making it disappear. "Unless you can think of something more appropriate?"

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
He'd heard that before, and Pan grinned. "Have you even had anything to drink yet, Prince? I think you might be far too sober for this party."

[identity profile] trojan-hero.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Having eaten his fill of marshmallows and chocolate and various kinds of meat over by the fire, Aeneas moved on to the intoxicating beverages. Drinking was something he had never had to gain an appreciation for -- he'd had access to liberal portions of wine almost from birth. So of course that was what he asked for after approaching the bar. Something red and undeniably Greek.

[identity profile] he-who-shapesus.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Morpheus declined lightly, he had already enjoyed one glass and for him that was more then enough. At least when he was in Pan's back yard..." I hardly find it bothersome Selene."
