askmenosecrets: (this strikes me as a bad situation)

Arcadian Forest Party

This was more work that he usually bothered to put in, Pan thought, especially here, at home, but everything was set.

At first glance, it appeared to be a forest clearing, beautiful and wild but nothing different than a hundred other clearings spread throughout the woods of the Arcadian mountains. But when you looked again, Pan thought, you saw something quite different. Hidden in the trees were a series of structures suspended in air, hung with ivy and dew, and through the mist-shrouded branches you could see the faint glow of light, and you could smell the scent of fire and food. There was the fire pit, a circle suspended in the arms of a large oak with a crackling golden fire, a roast, and bowls of marshmallows, chocolate and crackers waiting. There was the bar, stocked with a rich variety of wines and alcohols and staffed by two of the satyrs. And then there was the forest floor itself, bare now, but waiting for the dancing. On all sides of the floor, there were cushions on the low branches and benches of fallen logs, each accompanied with wooden buckets full of wine and beer bottles and glassed suspended with vine.

"Well," he said to Zaffre, currently wrapped around his neck, "I think we're ready." Pan flicked a leaf off his forest green turtleneck and looked around with approval before pausing. "We're almost ready," he corrected, and pulled his pan flute up to his lips.

The forest filled with music as he played, music that began as the mystical songs of the flute, but transformed as he let the instrument fall to his side - transformed into thrumming, sensual rhythms and intricate guitars that would encourage the party-goers to...well, Pan thought with a sharp grin, to be bad. Very bad.

"Let the games begin," Pan said.

[Notes: Everyone in [livejournal.com profile] fortuna_invicta is invited, the more the merrier in Pan's opinion. If anyone needs directions to the right section of the forest, let Pan know on the SWS post. Mingle! Get drunk! Stuff your face! Find a secluded tree and do naughty things! Pan approves highly of all these pursuits. Format = narrative third person, if you please!]

The boar is roasting, or if you're into more modern vittles, there's steak, and chicken, and even a few ducks roasting over the flames. Then again, just skip the main course and go for dessert - there are skewers and ingredients for s'mores just waiting.

Bar

Two satyrs are waiting with the tools and materials for any - and we do mean any - intoxicating beverage you might desire.

The air is virtually vibrating with music, and there's plenty of room to dance. And pretend to dance.

The Lower Branches

Claim a velvet cushion tied to one of the wide branches - there's wine and beer and glasses, everything you may need.

Don't want to dance? We do hope you change your mind, but if not, there's plenty to watch.

She came from the shadows; one moment, all was darkness, the next, it parted to allow its matron mother entrance into the Arcadian forest. Nyx glanced about, a small smile on her lips, having heard the god's call to his relatives. Such an entrancing lad, Pan.

Blackness swirling at her heels, she moved with effortless grace across the forest floor, finally alighting next to the gleaming wooden counter where the satyr bowed low and inquired her pleasure. After coolly asking for a rich red wine, Nyx leaned back and draped one ivory hand along the edge of the bar, waiting for the others -who they might be- to arrive.

Climbing the trees was nothing to him, and a moment later he was inside and nodding to Demetrius, who had a glass of rich whiskey in front of him without a word. "Nyx," he said with a bright grin. "It's nice to see you in my neck of the woods."

He looked amused at that - his neck of the woods was all the woods, of course.

Freya loved to dance and the music was positively glorious. It was nice to get away from her hall and seeing to her warriors for the night. And the music positively sang to her nature. Lust radiated from her body as she swayed to the beats.

As though he could resist the lure for long. Almost immediately after coming to a light landing at the outskirts of the clearing, his wings were tucked away and Eros was moving toward the music, letting it slide over him as he stepped onto the dance floor.

And who was that across from him? His faint smile turned wicked as he moved closer and bowed low. "Good evening, Lady Freya," he said, glancing up at her with a knowing smile.

[identity profile] madethenight.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Pan," she replied with a nod after her first sip of wine. One sharp eyebrow went up in a bit of cynical amusement. "Forgive me, was I not invited? How terribly rude."

But deep indigo eyes twinkled nevertheless; she'd always been fond of the Arcadian, despite his shenanigans. Indeed, his antics were always amusing, no matter their circumstances.

Freya turned at the presence and gave him that smile right back. She was still swaying to the music as she walked closer and curtsied slightly. She held out a hand to him, her eyes trailing him slowly, "Evening, Eros."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Pan laughed, tipping his head back as he sipped at his whiskey. "Everyone's invited to my parties, Nyx," he said. "You know I've never gone in for exclusivity. It's simply not my way."

He swirled his drink in his glass and raised an eyebrow. "But it has been some time since I've seen you, Queen of the Night."

[identity profile] lovessweetbait.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Eros' fingers slid across Freya's palm as he took her hand and tugged her closer with a laugh. "Welcome to Arcadia. We don't often see you this far to the south."

[identity profile] madethenight.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
She sipped her wine slowly, thoughtfully. "Mm, I have had little need to walk any plane, mortal or otherwise. I am absolute; I see and hear all happenings beneath my thick veil."

A slender shoulder shrugged, she pushing back a stray lock of dark hair. "However, the goings-on of late have perked my interest, stirring me to once more don mortal guise and walk among my kingdom." Her lips quirked. "It should prove entertaining, at the least."

Horus hung back, away from the main crowd. He'd never been one much for socializing. He preferred to observe instead of be an active participant. There was also the fact that, god or not, he was still completely rubbish when it came to social interactions.

He had cracked open a beer and was seated stiffly on one of the cushions. The sky god didn't look entirely approachable, but neither did he look completely standoffish.

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"It is almost always entertaining," Pan said with certainty as he finished his drink, tipping his head to one side. "The modern age is rife with opportunities for both of us," he said, and it was the preternaturally calm god of terror and destruction that spoke rather than the impish nature god. "Which have attracted your attention, lady?"

[identity profile] norse-freya.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"I felt it was time to..." she gestured vaguely to his back, "spread my wings, a bit?" Freya smirked, "And the rest of the Aesir were starting to bore me."

In other words, she'd already slept with all of them.

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Pan wandered along the branches in bare feet, a fresh glass of whiskey balanced perfectly in his hand, and he paused as he reached the Egyptian god. There's were not pantheons that mixed often, he thought, and grinned as he dropped onto Horus' branch.

"Hello, Horus," he said.

[identity profile] lovessweetbait.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Endless feasting and recounting of great deeds in battle? I can see how you might want a change." He twirled her and then stepped up close, close behind her and laughed low in her ear. "I do hope our Greek hospitality is sufficient to entertain."

[identity profile] falconvengeance.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
There was a quick nod of the head as Horus acknowledged the presence of the god who had landed on his branch. He wasn't one to bandy idle words just to fill up space. His hand gripped the beer just a touch more, as if it didn't know what else to do with itself.

The words were a touch clipped as he spoke. "Pan. It has been quite some time."

[identity profile] madethenight.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Nyx's scimitar smile flashed. "It is indeed, dear one." In answer to his question, she replied, "Mm, their illusion of control, mostly. It ever amuses me that despite all evidence to the contrary, the little mortal children believe themselves in complete control of their destinies." Her eyes glinted. "Methinks they have been blind to the truth for far too long."

[identity profile] norse-freya.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I still do like a good feast, and I'm as much a goddess of war, as I am of love. But, all the same-- yes. It is nice to get away every now and then."

Freya let out a cheerful laugh as he twirled her, her head resting easily against his shoulder, "Oh, I'm finding it more than sufficient, so far. Definitely."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Pan grinned and moved gracefully into an easy crouch, his slender fingers wrapping around the glass as he watched Horus over the rim with crystal blue eyes. "Our paths don't generally cross," he said after a moment, and then mischief glittered. "I think that's unfortunate, don't you, falcon?"

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Pan's grin flashed again and his eyes gleamed. "It is amazing, is it not," he said. "They think they bring all their accomplishments and downfalls upon themselves. It's almost cute." He held a hand out and Lysander handed him another drink.

"It makes me wish to show them how the world truly works."

[identity profile] falconvengeance.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Horus' head tilted and he leaned forward."Not at all," he said in his low, even tone. "My solitude is by design rather than accident." Horus was fond of the other gods, but their constant scheming and soap operatic tendencies wore him out. He rarely even saw the other Egyptian gods these days.
