Arcadian Forest Party

This was more work that he usually bothered to put in, Pan thought, especially here, at home, but everything was set.

At first glance, it appeared to be a forest clearing, beautiful and wild but nothing different than a hundred other clearings spread throughout the woods of the Arcadian mountains. But when you looked again, Pan thought, you saw something quite different. Hidden in the trees were a series of structures suspended in air, hung with ivy and dew, and through the mist-shrouded branches you could see the faint glow of light, and you could smell the scent of fire and food. There was the fire pit, a circle suspended in the arms of a large oak with a crackling golden fire, a roast, and bowls of marshmallows, chocolate and crackers waiting. There was the bar, stocked with a rich variety of wines and alcohols and staffed by two of the satyrs. And then there was the forest floor itself, bare now, but waiting for the dancing. On all sides of the floor, there were cushions on the low branches and benches of fallen logs, each accompanied with wooden buckets full of wine and beer bottles and glassed suspended with vine.

"Well," he said to Zaffre, currently wrapped around his neck, "I think we're ready." Pan flicked a leaf off his forest green turtleneck and looked around with approval before pausing. "We're almost ready," he corrected, and pulled his pan flute up to his lips.

The forest filled with music as he played, music that began as the mystical songs of the flute, but transformed as he let the instrument fall to his side - transformed into thrumming, sensual rhythms and intricate guitars that would encourage the party-goers to...well, Pan thought with a sharp grin, to be bad. Very bad.

"Let the games begin," Pan said.

[Notes: Everyone in [livejournal.com profile] fortuna_invicta is invited, the more the merrier in Pan's opinion. If anyone needs directions to the right section of the forest, let Pan know on the SWS post. Mingle! Get drunk! Stuff your face! Find a secluded tree and do naughty things! Pan approves highly of all these pursuits. Format = narrative third person, if you please!]

Selene never was able to say no to s'mores... Or anything with chocolate, really. The moon goddess picked out a little black dress for the occasion, her blonde hair spilling over her shoulders as she gathered the ingredients for her s'mores on a plate.

And then, perhaps, she'd look into mingling with the others.

He could have just set up a giant fire pit with buckets of Aunt Hestia's marshmallows, and the party would have been just as successful, Pan thought dryly, turning to watch the slender moon goddess fill her plate with chocolate. "Selene," he said smoothly. "It's been some time."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sweets always made for a good party, after all. Selene had been distracted by a piece of chocolate, sucking on it as she filled her plate with the rest of the necessary ingredients. Distracted enough that she'd hardly realized who had been nearby...

Who had just spoken her name, causing her skin to prickle. Wide eyed and blinking, she turned to Pan, smiling just a little. As much as she could, that is, with a piece of chocolate sticking out of her mouth. She removed the offending food from her lips, licking the excess chocolate off. "Pan!" she exclaimed at last, her cheeks burning. "It's been far too long."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Pan grinned and grabbed his own chocolate, unwrapping it and taking a back. "I never see you," he said, his blue eyes widening. "It's a tragedy, Selene. You really must come by more often."

His eyes flicked to the plate of chocolate and practically glowed with laughter. "I can keep chocolate on hand, if that might be incentive."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Selene smiled softly, tilting her head at him slightly. "Why Pan, I didn't know you cared so much," she teased him lightly. She set the piece of chocolate she'd been sucking on onto her plate for the moment being...

And couldn't help but laugh. "Trying to bribe me with sweets now?" she mused. "I would think your company alone would be incentive enough."

Pandora is playing "Come and Get It" by AC/DC. It's a shipper.

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Pan said, and his eyes sparkled with amused mischief as he took a bite of chocolate. "I wouldn't have guessed. I'm going to need you to elaborate on how my company is incentive," he added as he skewered a marshmallow. "I so often hear the reverse, you know?"

Poor Pan. He's such a liar.

lol! Nice! We're onto you, Pandora radio... >>

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
"If I elaborate it might just inflate your ego," Selene mused, falling easily back into her comfort zone now that the initial shock was over.

She licked the chocolate from her fingertips before picking up a skewer. "And it's my very intention to keep you humble... Or as humble as I can."

Pan's eyes widened innocently, and he pressed his hand to his chest. "I'm crushed, Selene," he said as he rotated the marshmallow on the skewer. "I'm the most humble god in all of Arcadia." The only god in all of Arcadia, but minor detail.

He extended the skewer. "Marshmallow, my lady?"

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Selene grinned at his dramatics. "But of course you are, my dear Pan," she laughed. She pushed hair hair out from her face, still giving him that toothy grin.

"Ever a gentleman, aren't you?" she cooed, using the graham cracker to pull the marshmallow from the skewer and sandwich it with the chocolate.

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
"My mama raised me right," Pan said dryly. In truth, he might recognize Dryope if he saw her. Maybe.

"So, whatever have you been up to?" he asked. "Just the usual for me. Chaos, sex, trouble. Boring, really."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Selene held out her hand for him to take, so she could insist he take the seat next to her instead of just hover by the fire. "Oh, yes, that all sounds so dreadfully boring," she laughed.

She shrugged her shoulders and smiled. "The usual for me, I guess. Watching over the moon... Escaping down here whenever I get a moment. I play mortal every so often... Just like old times..."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Pan smiled at her as he sat again. "You always liked that," he said. "I play that game now and then, myself," he added as he toasted another marshmallow for himself. "But I find it's the most fun to just be me."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
Selene smiled at him, her shoulder curled forward to playfully cover part of her face. "Of course it's the most fun to be you," she chided him lightly. "Day after day of chaos, sex and trouble."

She laughed a little and shrugged her shoulders. "I enjoy getting away from my responsibilities.... Besides... Mortals are fascinating beings. Who wouldn't want to escape and be one of them for some time?"

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Pan nodded and sandwiched his marshmallow between chocolate and graham. "They're interesting," he said as he took a bite. "I haven't played one of them for a while." His last masquerade hadn't ended very well, he thought, his eyes darkening. "What's your current guise, darling?"

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Selene had nearly forgotten about her own s'more, which sat in her hand, still untouched. She mimicked him, taking a bite of her own. "A young intern in New York... Morpheus has an office where he's been but all too kind and hired me in the guise of an intern..."

Her eyes lit up and she smiled brightly. "Pan, you must come visit sometime..."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
"New York?" Pan's grin flashed. "Well, admittedly, I haven't caused trouble there for a while. Would you show me the sights?"

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
"New York," Selene repeated, nodding her head emphatically. "Well of course I would! Whatever sights you wanted to see, I'd be more than happy to."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure I could think up something," Pan said as he finished off his s'more. "We could find a party or twelve," he said. "Those are always fun. And I haven't been to the top of the Empire State Building yet."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Selene grinned, watching him rattle off things to do as she finished her s'more. "You could make a list... We'd have as long as your heart's content with... And I might need it, keeping up with you on the party scene.. Might make for a hilarious scene."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I wouldn't leave you behind, princess," Pan said as licked marshmallow off his fingers. "It wouldn't be half as fun without you. We'd find ourselves a good pace. I wouldn't start any orgies for, oh, at least three days."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Selene fluttered her eyelashes playfully at him, trying not to pay attention to the way he licked the marshmallow from his fingers. "Well... that's a reasonable pace, I believe."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
"It's downright relaxing," Pan said with a grin. "Usually the goal is within eight hours, you understand, but I wouldn't want to push you that hard the first time."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
"That's very considerate of you," Selene countered, matching his grin as best she could. "Perhaps a few one on one tutoring sessions would be best before... throwing me into one of your parties."

[identity profile] panikondeima.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Pan smiled and caught her hand, raising it to his lips and pressing a kiss to her palm. "Darling," he said. "Whatever lessons you feel you need, I'm more than happy to provide."

[identity profile] moonlitselene.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
"As charming as ever," Selene murmured, her breath catching in her throat at the gesture. "I believe I just needed to be reminded of how much I missed your company."

lol! <3
